I have visited Alaska multiple times over the years including spending an entire summer. I have planned multiple trips to each of the parks. I have driven from Seward to Deadhorse as well driven to Alaska from the Lower 48. I know Alaska.

This itinerary is for someone looking to visit all 8 Alaska National Parks in one 21 day trip. This Alaska National Park Itinerary is designed to give you time in most of the parks to do see the highlights and then time to do a hike or two or a guided activity. There are also 3 weather days built into the itinerary to allow space for weather cancellations.
This itinerary has a base cost of of ~$7,200 for one person or $6,700 per person for two or more people NOT including food, lodging, or transportation to Alaska.

Are these Alaska itineraries a good fit for me?
If you are planning to visit several Alaska’s National Parks and want to make your trip planning easy. Then these itineraries are for you. Select the itinerary that matches your travel plans and your desired parks.
What is the approximate cost per person for these itineraries?
Each itinerary has a different base cost. It will vary depending on the length of the trip and which parks you are visiting. Please see the description of each Alaska National Park itinerary for the base cost.
When I design these itineraries, I try to be cost efficient and get you the most bang for your money. Alaska is not a CHEAP place. There is no way around this. That doesn’t mean you have to blow the bank to explore Alaska’s park. I have tried to keep the expensive
As a general guide, you should expect to spend about $150 – $500 a day in Alaska depending on group size along with lodging choices, food choices, rental car and activities.
How far in advance do I need to plan?
At a minimum, you should start planning this trip 6 months in advance. But you should start making your bookings as soon as possible. Unless specified, none of the hotels or activities recommended in this itinerary have a hard and fast booking deadline (like Brooks Lodge). That said, you can start making bookings for some hotels and activities anywhere from 12-18 months in advance.
Do any of the itineraries include Brooks Lodge?
As a general rule, none of these itineraries include a stay at Brooks Lodge. I wanted to make this itinerary as affordable and make it as simple as possible to book on your own. Sadly Brooks Lodge is not simple to book and is VERY expensive on a per night basis. It was $901 per night in 2020 and over 1,943 people entered the 2023 Lottery. Nineteen hundred entries doesn’t seem like a lot but by my estimates it gives everyone who entered a 30ish percentage chance of getting a reservation. (It is even less if you are looking to go during the prime bear viewing time in July).

I'm not a big hiker. Does this itinerary require a lot of hiking?
No problem. Most of these Alaska itineraries are not focused on hiking. I try to keep the planned hikes to 2 miles or less and do not have more than a couple hundred feet of elevation gain. In most cases, I provide alterative suggestions for people if the suggested hike isn’t something you’d like to do.
Is this itineraries handicapped accessible?
I do not cover handicapped accessibility in the itineraries. I wish I could cover this topic but it isn’t a topic I feel like I couldn’t adequately address due to the broad range of possible accommodations needed. I'm really into hiking/backpacking . Does this itinerary have a lot of hiking or any backpacking opportunities?
These Alaska National Park itineraries focus more on seeing the sights in each park with optional hikes and there is NO backpacking planned. I’m going to be honest here, if you are looking to backpack in these parks. This itineraries are not really for you.
Does this Alaska Itinerary include any rail travel?
It depends on the itinerary. Alaska rail travel is typically limited to the 5-7 day Alaska itineraries. Please check the tour description to see if Alaskan rail trip is included.
I wish I could include a rail trip on every itinerary but compared to driving, the train is a slow way to travel in Alaska and rather limiting in terms of schedule. There are just some itineraries where it doesn’t make sense time wise to take the train.
