Texas is a state at the cross-roads between the south and the southwestern United States. In terms of it’s national parks it is part of the Intermountain Region. Texas second largest state in land area and is know as the “Lone Star State.” This nickname dates commemorates Texas’s struggle for Independence from Mexico as well as its history as an independent nation. The state’s national park protects its vast history and unique natural features. There is currently six National Park Service Site in Texas and 3 associated sites.
