Zion Lodging Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best place to stay for visiting Zion National Park?

You’ve got plenty of choices when it comes to accommodation near Zion National Park.

The closest place to the entrance would be Springdale which has lots of hotel options, restaurants, and activities available. If you simply want to visit Zion, and don’t want to head anywhere else then Springdale is your best bet!

If you’re looking to visit Zion National Park and some of the other nearby parks, you might be better off staying in Hurricane, Orderville, or St. George. This means you’ve got access to various parks within Utah.

However, if you want to stay in the park itself you only have one option and that’s Zion Lodge.

How many days should you stay at Zion National Park?

Zion National Park covers a pretty large area, so you’ll want to stay near the park for at least three to four days. This gives you enough time to visit some of the famous landmarks, head along Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, and attempt some of the most popular hikes in the area.

You’ll also want to give yourself enough time to drive part of the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway and visit the Human History Museum. There is a lot to do here, and it’s not a place you want to rush – trust me. Allow yourself enough time so you can enjoy the experience!

I’m visiting Bryce and Zion, where should I stay?

If you’re planning to visit Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon then the best place to stay is Orderville. It’s only a 20-minute drive from Zion, and under an hour’s drive from Bryce Canyon National Park. This means you’re in the prime location to visit both!

Now, Orderville doesn’t have as many hotels or dining options as the other places in this article – but it’s definitely the best place to stay for convenience.

Which is better – Zion Lodge or Springdale hotels?

This one all comes down to whether you’d like to stay within Zion National Park or just outside?

As I’ve previously mentioned if you want to stay within the park itself – you’ll have to stay at Zion Lodge. It’s the only hotel within the park, but it does offer plenty of facilities and easy access to the hiking trails.

Springdale is situated a 3-minute drive from the entrance so is in very close proximity to Zion National Park. You’ll also find plenty of lodging options, restaurants, and facilities here.

Springdale is much better for travelers on a budget but if you have the cash to splash, then Zion Lodge is an awesome choice.

Final Thoughts on Zion Hotels

When it comes to staying near Zion, you have plenty of choices. You can either stay in Springdale so you’re right by the entrance, or you can stay somewhere a bit further out where you can access some of the other nearby parks too. Some of the hotels on this list will offer you a luxurious stay during your trip, while others focus on a more ‘back to basics’ approach’. It all depends on your budget, what facilities you’d prefer, and how close you’d like to be to the national park.
